Colorman Ireland expands collaboration with BOBST, deploying digital inspection, Novafoil, and Expertfold folding-gluing lines to improve automation, reduce manual handling, and enhance quality in folding carton production.
Colorman Ireland has expanded its partnership with BOBST to enhance packaging automation across its folding carton production lines.
Based in Dublin, Colorman provides print and packaging services to healthcare, pharmaceutical, IT, and public sector clients, producing folding cartons, leaflets, and booklets. The collaboration with BOBST, which began nine years ago, has evolved into a strategic production partnership.
The current setup includes a digital inspection table, Novafoil 106, and an Expertfold folding-gluing line with Accucheck. An Expertfold 110 folder-gluer and automated Expertfold 80 line have been added, incorporating Easyfeeder, Accucheck, Accuject, and Cartonpack 4. These systems enable inline quality checks, automated removal of defective cartons, efficient counting and stacking, and reduce operator workload and human error.
The digital inspection table (DMT) works with the Novafoil to shorten setup times and provide visual confirmation for die positioning before production starts, improving efficiency for complex jobs involving hot foil stamping and Braille embossing.
Operations director John Keating emphasized that BOBST is a strategic partner rather than a simple supplier, integral to Colorman Ireland’s folding carton division. Bobst’s sales manager Stuart Alvey-Taylor highlighted the value of long-term collaboration and feedback in achieving zero-fault production performance.
