The Philippine packaging industry is expected to grow in 2026, driven largely by rising e-commerce activity, food delivery demand, and innovation in sustainable packaging solutions.

E-commerce Seen Driving Philippine Packaging Industry Growth

The Philippine processing and packaging industry is expected to record single-digit growth in 2026, with e-commerce continuing to play a central role in driving demand for innovative and flexible packaging solutions. Industry leaders point to sustained momentum from online retail and food delivery services as key contributors to this growth.

Speaking at a pre-event conference for the 2026 ProPak Philippines trade show, Asian Packaging Federation President Joseph Ross S. Jocson said that developments in materials—particularly within flexible packaging—are supporting steady expansion. He noted that industry growth is broadly aligned with the country’s economic outlook, with GDP growth projected at around 5%.

“The food industry has always been relatively constant, but the big driver right now is e-commerce,” Jocson said. He highlighted the rapid expansion of food delivery platforms, which has increased demand for packaging solutions capable of protecting products during transport while maintaining food quality and safety.

According to Informa Markets, growth in the Philippines’ food and beverage, pharmaceutical, and personal care sectors has supported the packaging industry in recent years. However, changing consumer expectations are now reshaping packaging priorities, particularly around sustainability.

Citing data from NielsenIQ, Informa Markets reported that 78% of Philippine consumers prefer brands that prioritise sustainable packaging, while 65% are willing to pay a premium for eco-friendly products. This shift underscores the urgency for businesses to adopt packaging solutions that align with environmental values without compromising functionality.

Rungphech Chitanuwat, Country General Manager of Informa Markets Philippines, said ProPak Philippines aims to help industry players address these evolving challenges. “Consumer-conscious innovation is not just a theme, but a call to action,” she said, emphasising the need for sustainable, competitive, and market-driven packaging strategies.

Scheduled for February 4–6 at the World Trade Center in Manila, ProPak Philippines 2026 is expected to attract more than 250 exhibitors and 10,000 trade visitors. The event will feature training courses, forums, and discussions focused on the latest advancements in processing and packaging technologies.
