BioPak, an Australian sustainable packaging provider, wins the 2024 WorldStar Award for Aqueous BioCups, demonstrating innovation in sustainable packaging solutions.
BioPak – an Australian sustainable packaging solutions provider – has gained international recognition for its Aqueous BioCups, winning the 2024 WorldStar Award in the Packaging Materials and Components category.
Established in 1970, the WorldStar Packaging Awards (WPA) have been one of the major events in the packaging industry. It received 435 entries this year from 41 countries, with Australia and New Zealand ranking in the top five winning countries.
Luciana Pellegrino, WPA president, celebrated the dynamic and technological packaging innovation showcased by the award winners.
“The increasing number of entries every year and the global reach of WorldStar prove that our industry keeps investing in efficiency and new solutions to serve society better,” said Pellegrino.
BioPak’s Aqueous BioCups are made with FSC-certified paper sourced from responsibly managed plantations and are lined with Aqueous technology, a unique water-based dispersion coating that significantly reduces the amount of material needed while still providing leak and grease-proof benefits.
The cups are also certified home compostable to Australian and European standards and are available in single and double walls in various sizes.
“It is both humbling and encouraging to be acknowledged by the World Packaging Organisation and the Worldstar Packaging Awards, the most prestigious global packaging accolade,” added Gary Smith, CEO of BioPak.
“This recognition drives us to continually think outside the box and bring innovative solutions to market.”
BioPak says it plans to transition all its BioCups range to the new Aqueous coating technology this year.
