CAFRE’s Food Packaging Team at Loughry Campus is celebrating three female learners who completed the PIABC Level 3 Certificate in Packaging, highlighting women’s growing impact across Northern Ireland’s packaging and agri-food sectors.
The College of Agriculture, Food and Rural Enterprise (CAFRE) is marking International Women’s Day by celebrating the achievements of three female learners who have successfully completed the PIABC Level 3 Certificate in Packaging. The milestone highlights the growing contribution women are making across Northern Ireland’s processing, manufacturing and packaging industries.
The learners - Clare Hughes, Quality Support Manager at Lakeland Dairies (Newtownards), Anna Lowes, Group Central Control PLU Coordinator at ABP Food Group, and Chloe Moore, Group Food Safety Supply Chain Technologist at Dunbia - demonstrated strong commitment and leadership throughout the programme, applying new skills and insights directly to workplace challenges.
Delivered by CAFRE’s specialist Food Packaging Team based at the Loughry Campus, the Level 3 Certificate in Packaging provides structured learning across packaging materials, sustainability principles, legislation, food safety, print and design, and the role packaging plays in modern supply chains. The programme is designed to equip professionals with practical knowledge that supports quality, compliance and performance in real-world operations.
CAFRE noted that the cohort’s success reflects rising demand for packaging professionals who can combine technical understanding with sustainability thinking and operational problem-solving. As organisations across Northern Ireland accelerate efforts toward environmentally responsible practices, the development of skilled talent is increasingly viewed as a competitive and compliance-critical priority.
Senior Food Technologist Adele Dallas praised the learners’ dedication and professionalism, noting that their achievements underline both personal ambition and the increasing impact women are having across packaging and the wider agri-food sector. CAFRE positioned the celebration as aligned with the broader International Women’s Day focus on women’s advancement, professional development and leadership.
CAFRE is now welcoming expressions of interest for upcoming PIABC packaging courses, including Level 2 and Level 3 programmes, aimed at organisations seeking to strengthen packaging knowledge, refresh skills and support ongoing professional development in packaging and food supply chains.
