Flexible Packaging magazine opens nominations for its first Innovation Award, spotlighting advances in design, sustainability, and functionality across flexible packaging formats.
Flexible Packaging magazine has officially opened nominations for its inaugural Flexible Packaging Innovation Award, set to celebrate excellence and forward-thinking solutions in the fast-evolving packaging sector. As announced by Beverage Industry, the new award aims to recognize brands, converters, and suppliers that are pushing the boundaries of flexible packaging design, functionality, and sustainability.
The award program invites entries across a wide range of product categories and use cases, from food and beverages to pharmaceuticals, personal care, and household goods. Eligible innovations include improvements in barrier performance, recyclability, shelf impact, material reduction, and integration of smart technologies.
The introduction of this award reflects the increasing importance of flexible packaging as a driver of innovation in consumer goods. With its lightweight properties, customizability, and compatibility with high-speed production, flexible formats continue to disrupt traditional rigid packaging models across industries.
“We want to shine a spotlight on the ingenuity and progress happening in the flexible packaging space,” said a spokesperson from BNP Media, publisher of Flexible Packaging. “This award is about celebrating innovation that meets modern consumer and environmental demands.”
Nominees will be evaluated by a panel of industry experts based on criteria such as material science, functionality, user experience, sustainability impact, and commercial scalability. The award seeks to highlight not only cutting-edge technologies but also practical solutions that demonstrate measurable benefits throughout the packaging lifecycle.
Among the innovation areas expected to feature prominently are mono-material films, compostable substrates, refillable pouches, digital printing enhancements, and automation-friendly designs. Entrants are encouraged to submit detailed documentation, images, and performance data to support their nominations.
The award is open to packaging developed or launched between January 2023 and December 2025, making it a showcase of both recent breakthroughs and near-term market-ready solutions. Winners will be announced in the print and digital editions of Flexible Packaging and recognized across BNP Media’s industry platforms.
As packaging becomes an increasingly strategic differentiator for brands, programs like the Flexible Packaging Innovation Award offer valuable recognition to companies leading the way in material science, design, and environmental stewardship. Submissions are now open, setting the stage for an exciting celebration of packaging excellence in 2026.
