Fresh Inset Celebrated at Sustainable Packaging Summit 2025 with Prestigious Award
The Sustainable Packaging Summit 2025, held in Amsterdam, provided the stage for a major milestone in sustainable innovation as Fresh Inset was honoured with the Packaging Europe Sustainability Award in the Active & Intelligent Packaging category. Their award-winning Vidre+ technology was recognised for its ability to extend the shelf life of fresh produce while reducing food waste and improving packaging sustainability.
The event brought together thought leaders, innovators, and packaging professionals from across Europe to showcase cutting-edge solutions aligned with the circular economy and carbon reduction goals. Fresh Inset’s win was a standout moment, highlighting the convergence of smart packaging and environmental responsibility.
Vidre+ is a patented natural ethylene inhibitor embedded directly into packaging materials such as labels and liners. Unlike traditional sachets or additives, it seamlessly integrates into packaging systems, offering retailers and producers a scalable method to maintain freshness during transport and storage. This innovation is aligned with stringent European food safety and recyclability standards.
“We’re proud to receive this award in front of so many peers at the Sustainable Packaging Summit. Vidre+ represents our commitment to innovation that makes a real environmental difference,” said a Fresh Inset spokesperson.
The judging panel applauded the solution’s ability to reduce food loss, optimise logistics, and enhance packaging efficiency without compromising recyclability. By eliminating the need for external preservation components, Vidre+ also reduces packaging complexity and material usage.
In addition to Fresh Inset, the summit featured over 60 speakers and more than 40 solution providers from the global packaging community, all focused on advancing sustainability, regulatory compliance, and material innovation. Key themes included digitalisation, life-cycle assessment, mono-material strategies, and compostable packaging standards.
The event served as a powerful networking and knowledge-sharing platform, with Vidre+ standing out as a commercial-ready innovation with measurable environmental benefits. As packaging regulations tighten and sustainability expectations grow, the role of events like the Sustainable Packaging Summit continues to be critical in spotlighting and accelerating change.
Fresh Inset’s recognition affirms the company’s position as a leader in active packaging technologies and underscores the importance of cross-industry collaboration in shaping the future of sustainable food systems.
