The participation of governmental bodies and research institutions is an important element of the Pharmaceutical Manufacturing and Packaging Congress (PHARMAP) 2025. As the industry navigates significant issues such as data security risks, supply chain complexities and sustainability pressures, these organisations bridge the gap between drug producers and society by conveying its needs and priorities.
Scheduled for 14-15 April in Berlin, the Congress brings together administrative establishments, including Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts, World Packaging Organisation, Umweltbundesamt and "CRPT TURON" LLC. These participants provide valuable insights into regulatory advancements, green initiatives and technological innovations aimed at improving the efficiency and security of pharmaceutical manufacturing and packaging processes worldwide.
One of the key speakers, Chakravarthi AVPS, Global Ambassador at the World Packaging Organisation, is going to discuss the importance of international collaboration in ensuring safe medicines. He highlights initiatives such as the WHO’s Track & Trace system and ICH’s global standards, which enhance supply chain security. According to Chakravarthi, “The future of safe medicines lies in continued innovation, regulatory harmonisation and cross-border cooperation.” To address ecological issues, Volker Strauss, Head of the Department of Pharmaceuticals, Chemicals and Substance Testing at Umweltbundesamt, contributes to a roundtable discussion on sustainability in pharmaceutical manufacturing. He presents insights into how to balance sustainability goals in pharmaceutical management with the demands of medical care, offering potential solutions to align these objectives.
Moreover, Karel van der Waarde, a researcher at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts, examines sustainable packaging solutions at the Leadership Panel. He introduces smart packaging technologies, emphasising the importance of clear and accessible patient information on package leaflets in Europe.
Another aspect of pharmaceutical regulation —serialisation and labelling— is addressed by Andrey Kirillov, Chairman of the Supervisory Board at "CRPT TURON" LLC. He presents insights into the ASL Belgisi Digital Track & Trace System, showcasing its potential to enhance brand protection and improve product security and traceability. PHARMAP 2025 underscores the necessity of collective efforts to handle the industry's most significant issues. By gathering industry leaders, regulatory bodies and research institutions, the Congress fosters dialogue and collaboration that drives progress in pharmaceutical manufacturing, packaging and distribution.
Strengthening these connections is essential for building a more resilient, efficient, and sustainable pharmaceutical industry.
