Packaging Innovations & Empack 2026 Returns to NEC Birmingham, Spotlighting Future Trends in Design, Materials, and Automation

November 7, 2025 — One of the UK’s leading events for packaging professionals, Packaging Innovations & Empack 2026, will return to the NEC Birmingham on 11–12 February 2026. Organised by Easyfairs, the exhibition will once again unite designers, manufacturers, brand owners, and sustainability experts to explore the technologies shaping the future of packaging.

Driving collaboration across the packaging value chain
The two-day event is set to bring together more than 6,500 visitors and 400 exhibitors, showcasing the latest in packaging design, materials science, automation, and circular solutions. The show will be co-located with Contract Pack & Fulfilment and Label & Print, providing a comprehensive overview of packaging and supply chain trends.

“Packaging Innovations & Empack remains the industry’s most dynamic platform for discovery and collaboration,” said Renan Joel, Managing Director at Easyfairs UK & Global Packaging. “Next year’s edition will feature a stronger focus on sustainability, digitalisation, and intelligent packaging — the three key drivers transforming the sector.”

Key themes for 2026

  • Sustainability in action: Circular design, recyclable materials, and low-carbon manufacturing solutions will take centre stage as brands seek to meet tightening regulatory and consumer demands.
  • Smart and connected packaging: Exhibitors will highlight the latest advances in QR codes, NFC, and traceability technologies enabling real-time engagement and data-driven brand experiences.
  • Automation and AI in production: A dedicated zone will explore robotics, digital twins, and AI-enabled process optimisation, helping packaging operations improve efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Future materials and design innovation: New paper-based structures, bio-based plastics, and lightweight composites will be presented alongside case studies from major brands and startups.

Interactive content and expert insights
Attendees will benefit from an extensive seminar programme featuring speakers from Unilever, Coca-Cola Europacific Partners, DS Smith, and WRAP. Topics will range from sustainable design and consumer perception to digital transformation across the packaging lifecycle.

Innovation Awards & Live Demos
The 2026 event will also host the Packaging Innovations Awards, celebrating breakthrough designs and technologies that advance circularity and performance. Live demonstrations across both halls will showcase automated filling lines, printing systems, and recyclable material testing.

With the UK packaging industry valued at over £11 billion, the show continues to be a critical platform for driving innovation, connecting industry leaders, and inspiring the next generation of sustainable packaging solutions.
