SÜDPACK, SN Maschinenbau, and Menshen hosted a live event at Erolzheim to showcase a sustainable, in-house solution for producing spouted pouches for liquid and pasty foods.
SÜDPACK, SN Maschinenbau, and Menshen recently hosted a live event at SÜDPACK’s cutting-edge Erolzheim site, showcasing an innovative, cost-effective solution for the in-house production of spouted pouches. The event, held on September 18 and 19, 2024, was aimed at food manufacturers and packagers of liquid or pasty products such as smoothies and fruit purees. The focus was on sustainability, economic profitability, logistics efficiency, and product quality.
The heart of the new system is the high-performance SPM 50 packaging machine from SN Maschinenbau, designed to work seamlessly with mono-material, recyclable films from SÜDPACK, and spouts provided by Menshen. The integrated solution enables manufacturers to produce spouted pouches of varying shapes and sizes in-house, reducing material costs and logistical complexities. Attendees noted the environmental benefits, with CO2 emissions nearly halved during transport of the pouches.
The event offered live demonstrations and insights into the substantial cost savings associated with producing pouches directly from roll stock. With an output of up to 4,200 pouches per hour, the solution provides manufacturers with greater flexibility and faster time-to-market. The high level of product protection and excellent sealing performance also ensure food safety, an essential feature in reducing food waste. The event concluded with a factory tour of SÜDPACK’s nearby Ochsenhausen facility, where further discussions on sustainability and innovation continued.
