On December 4, a free Zoom webinar will explore how sustainable packaging intersects with artisanal craftsmanship, featuring leading voices in design, materials, and ecology.
On December 4, a free webinar titled “Sustainable Packaging and Crafts” will take place via Zoom, aiming to explore the intersection between ecological materials, artisanal techniques, and modern packaging innovation. Organized by the Italian cultural platform Finestre sull’Arte and the Fondazione Cologni dei Mestieri d’Arte, the event promises a unique dialogue between sustainability and craftsmanship in contemporary packaging design.
The webinar is part of the GreenArt project, supported by the European Union and focused on developing eco-conscious practices across creative industries. As packaging becomes a growing area of concern in both environmental and aesthetic terms, this initiative highlights how traditional artisan knowledge can play a key role in reshaping packaging’s future.
Scheduled for Wednesday, December 4, from 5:00 to 6:30 PM (CET), the event will be hosted online and is open to the public through free registration on Zoom. Participants will hear from experts in sustainable packaging, cultural heritage preservation, and material innovation.
Confirmed speakers include:
- Antonella Broglia, innovation consultant and TEDx speaker, who will moderate the session
- Giorgio Caporaso, architect and designer known for his work in eco-design and modular furniture
- Giulia Crespi, expert in sustainable materials and founder of a startup focusing on biodegradable packaging
- Marina Berton, representative of Fondazione Cologni, discussing craftsmanship and sustainability
The webinar will focus on three central themes:
- The role of artisanal techniques in sustainable packaging innovation
- Material circularity and the potential of biodegradable or compostable packaging solutions
- How cultural heritage and craftsmanship can influence future packaging aesthetics
This event is especially relevant for professionals in packaging design, materials development, and branding, as it bridges creative expression with ecological responsibility. It also serves as a platform to connect the packaging sector with wider cultural and environmental movements.
As the industry pushes toward net-zero goals and consumers become more selective, the convergence of artisanal values and sustainable technology offers a promising path forward. From handmade papers to reusable natural fiber wraps, craftspeople are contributing not only materials—but also meaning—to packaging design.
Registration for the event is open through the official event page on Finestre sull’Arte, with simultaneous translation available for non-Italian participants.
