UPM Specialty Papers will present innovative recyclable packaging solutions at Fachpack 2024, co-created with industry leaders to meet sustainability goals.
UPM Specialty Papers is set to showcase a range of co-created, recyclable packaging solutions at Fachpack 2024, highlighting its commitment to sustainability. These fibre-based packaging innovations cater to the increasing demand for eco-friendly solutions, addressing both consumer and regulatory needs, particularly aligning with upcoming EU Packaging regulations.
UPM's collaborations with industry leaders have resulted in innovative packaging options. For example, partnerships with Michelman and Henkel have produced high-barrier papers that offer superior protection against moisture and oxygen, ideal for preserving products like coffee and chocolate. Meanwhile, UPM's collaboration with Fazer led to a heat-sealable, recyclable solution for chilled food packaging, offering excellent resistance to grease and moisture.
The solutions also include sustainable alternatives to traditional plastic packaging, like a heat-sealable wrapper for salad pots, developed with Unipaco. This packaging meets stringent German mono-material requirements, with 95% of the mass composed of a single component, allowing for easier recycling. Additionally, UPM, in partnership with BOBST and Michelman, has introduced a long shelf-life, recyclable option for products such as spices.
Fachpack attendees can explore these innovations and learn how UPM is driving packaging sustainability forward through its fibre-based products. UPM’s focus remains on reducing plastic dependency, ensuring recyclability, and improving packaging performance without compromising on quality.
