WEPACK 2026 closed in Shenzhen with record visitor numbers, international participation and a full packaging value chain showcase covering automation, digital printing, sustainability and smart manufacturing.
WEPACK 2026 has closed in Shenzhen with record-breaking attendance, reinforcing the event’s position as one of the most important global platforms for the packaging industry. Held at the Shenzhen World Exhibition & Convention Center, the three-day World Expo of Packaging Industry brought together suppliers, buyers, manufacturers and technology providers from across the full packaging value chain.
The scale of the event was significant. According to RX, WEPACK 2026 welcomed 137,157 unique visitors and 158,659 total visits. International participation also reached a new high, with 13,598 overseas visitors representing 19,682 visits. Industry professionals from more than 130 countries and regions attended the show, confirming the growing importance of China as a meeting point for global packaging business.
The exhibition also demonstrated how the packaging industry is becoming more integrated, more automated and more international. Nearly 100 professional buyer delegations, including industry associations, alliances and leading companies, took part in business exchanges across the exhibition halls. This level of participation shows that WEPACK is not only a regional trade fair, but a commercial platform connecting Asian manufacturing capacity with worldwide packaging demand.
WEPACK 2026 showed that packaging innovation is increasingly shaped by the convergence of materials, machinery, digital printing, automation and global supply chain collaboration.
The event brought together eight concurrent exhibitions covering a broad range of technologies and materials. Visitors were able to explore raw paper materials, processing equipment, corrugated packaging, folding cartons, digital printing, label production and finished packaging solutions. This integrated structure made the show relevant for converters, brand owners, equipment manufacturers and material suppliers looking for complete packaging systems.
One of the strongest features of WEPACK 2026 was the presence of live demonstrations. Instead of presenting only static products, exhibitors showed operating machinery, live production lines and real-time manufacturing processes. From corrugated board and folding cartons to gift boxes, paper bags and label solutions, the show floor highlighted the increasing role of automation and intelligent manufacturing in packaging production.
- Corrugated packaging remained a central focus for logistics, retail and e-commerce applications.
- Digital printing showed its growing value for shorter runs, personalisation and faster design changes.
- Label production reflected demand for traceability, branding and regulatory information.
- Smart manufacturing highlighted the need for efficiency, quality control and scalable production.
Sustainability and circular economy were also important themes throughout the event. Packaging companies are facing pressure to reduce waste, improve recyclability, lower material use and respond to evolving regulations. At WEPACK, these challenges were addressed through new material concepts, process improvements and discussions on how packaging businesses can adapt to changing environmental expectations.
The exhibition also served as a platform for strategic industry dialogue. More than 30 high-level forums and concurrent events were held during the show, including the IPIF International Packaging Innovation Forum. These sessions brought together packaging manufacturers, equipment suppliers, brand owners and policy experts to discuss pulp and paperboard market trends, digital transformation, smart manufacturing, sustainability and the future of labels.
For packaging companies, this type of knowledge exchange is increasingly valuable. The sector is being reshaped by rising costs, changing consumer expectations, e-commerce growth, automation, traceability requirements and circular economy regulation. Events such as WEPACK help companies understand which technologies are moving from concept to industrial adoption.
The show also reflected China’s expanding role in global packaging development. China is already a major manufacturing base for packaging machinery, materials and finished formats. By hosting a record-breaking international event in Shenzhen, WEPACK 2026 demonstrated how Chinese suppliers are becoming more closely connected with international buyers, brands and supply chains.
Beyond the exhibition halls, WEPACK introduced a Carnival Zone designed to create a more interactive visitor experience. With themed areas for food tasting, robotics interaction, entertainment, golf and official merchandise, the event added a cultural and networking dimension to the business programme. This reflects a broader trend in trade shows, where engagement and experience are becoming part of professional events.
WEPACK 2026’s record attendance confirms the strong demand for packaging innovation, equipment investment and international collaboration. As the industry continues to evolve, the event has strengthened its position as a platform where companies can see new technologies, build partnerships and understand the direction of packaging across China and the global market.
