ALPLA Acquires Energoplast’s Closure Operations in Serbia to Strengthen Regional Growth

ALPLA Expands Eastern European Presence with Acquisition of Energoplast’s Closure Operations in Serbia

November 4, 2025 — Global packaging leader ALPLA has strengthened its position in Eastern Europe by acquiring the closure production facility of Energoplast in Belgrade, Serbia. The move expands ALPLA’s regional manufacturing capabilities and supports its long-term growth strategy focused on innovation, efficiency, and circular packaging solutions.

Strategic Expansion in a Key Market

The acquisition includes Energoplast’s state-of-the-art facility for the production of plastic closures used in the beverage and food industries. This expansion complements ALPLA’s existing footprint in the region, where it already operates multiple packaging plants. The company stated that the deal reinforces its goal of ensuring proximity to customers while optimizing supply chain resilience and operational sustainability.

“This acquisition enhances our ability to serve the fast-growing markets of Southeast Europe and strengthens our position as a leading partner for high-quality, recyclable packaging solutions,” said Philipp Lehner, CEO of ALPLA. “It aligns perfectly with our global strategy of investing in future-ready production technologies and local capacity.”

Driving Circular Economy Goals

ALPLA emphasized that the integration of Energoplast’s operations will accelerate its transition toward fully recyclable and reusable packaging systems. The company plans to leverage Energoplast’s technical expertise and regional market knowledge to expand its offering of lightweight, resource-efficient closures designed for a circular economy.

The acquisition also supports ALPLA’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions through localized production and increased use of recycled materials. The Belgrade plant is expected to play a pivotal role in meeting rising demand for sustainable packaging from both multinational and regional customers.

Expanding Regional Capabilities

With this acquisition, ALPLA further consolidates its leadership in the packaging sector across Europe. The company’s regional investments — including recycling facilities and innovation centers — aim to foster collaboration, technological advancement, and sustainability throughout the packaging value chain.

“By combining ALPLA’s global innovation network with Energoplast’s local expertise, we’re well-positioned to deliver high-performance, sustainable packaging solutions tailored to this dynamic region,” Lehner added.

The acquisition marks another milestone in ALPLA’s international growth journey and underscores its commitment to shaping a more circular and sustainable future for packaging.
