Amcor has strengthened its presence in Latin America’s meat packaging sector with the installation of its Moda Vac rotary vacuum chamber sealing system at Brazilian processor Barra Mansa Alimentos. The project combines high-speed equipment, packaging materials and local technical support as part of Amcor’s broader strategy to expand its integrated packaging solutions in the region.

Barra Mansa was seeking a more efficient packaging solution for its new deboning line, aiming to increase output, improve vacuum performance and simplify plant operations for its Oranges Alimentos brand. The company selected Amcor’s Moda Vac system for its stability, versatility and ease of integration into existing production flows.

Integrated equipment and materials-based solutions are increasingly replacing standalone packaging machinery in high-throughput protein processing environments.

According to Barra Mansa Alimentos operations director Felipe Oranges, the technology has already delivered measurable operational improvements. He noted that the system significantly enhanced productivity, vacuum consistency and overall process stability, reinforcing the decision to adopt the new platform.

Amcor supplied not only the Moda Vac high-speed rotary vacuum sealing equipment, but also packaging materials and on-site technical support during installation. This integrated approach reflects a growing trend in packaging machinery supply, where converters and processors are seeking full-system solutions rather than individual components.

One of the most notable aspects of the installation is the consolidation of equipment footprint and capacity. Three Moda Vac rotary vacuum chamber sealing units have replaced up to nine belt chamber machines previously used in the facility. This reduction in equipment count is expected to streamline operations, reduce maintenance complexity and improve production efficiency across the line.
