INX International has introduced a UV/LED dual-cure low-migration ink formulation, enhancing its INXhrc RC line for rigid packaging with safer, sustainable solutions.

INX Expands INXhrc RC Ink Line with Sustainable Low-Migration Solutions

INX International has announced a major enhancement to its natural-based ink portfolio with the expansion of its INXhrc™ RC product line. This addition introduces a new UV/LED dual-cure low-migration formulation, designed specifically for plastic and foam-based rigid packaging. The innovation brings significant operational, regulatory, and environmental benefits to brands and printers striving for sustainable solutions.

The latest addition, known as INXhrc RC LM, is a high-performance ink series crafted from clean, renewable, and sustainable materials. Compliant with Nestlé's packaging safety standards, these inks cater to the increasing demand for low-migration solutions, particularly in food-safe applications. They also align with the broader industry push to reduce the environmental impact of packaging.

Key Sustainability Features

  • Biorenewable Content: These inks incorporate a high percentage of biorenewable ingredients, reducing dependency on petrochemical-based resins.
  • VOC-Free Composition: INXhrc RC LM inks are formulated without volatile organic compounds, contributing to a safer production process and a cleaner environment.
  • Carbon Footprint Reduction: Packaging materials using these inks can achieve up to a 30% reduction in their carbon footprint compared to traditional UV inks.

Renee Schouten, Vice President of Marketing at INX International, underscored the importance of these developments. "Consumers are increasingly aware of packaging safety and sustainability. Our INXhrc RC LM inks address these concerns by replacing petrochemical-derived resins with natural, renewable alternatives, while maintaining top-tier performance."

Performance and Compliance

These inks are ideal for dry offset printing on rigid containers, delivering excellent adhesion, vibrant color consistency, and high-quality results. INXhrc RC LM inks meet stringent food safety regulations, including the European Union's EC No. 1935-2004, which governs materials intended for food contact. Importantly, their natural components are non-allergenic and are not derived from food crops, ensuring consumer safety and sustainability.

Third-party testing, conducted under ASTM D6866-20 Method B standards, confirms that these inks are a viable eco-friendly alternative to conventional UV printing solutions. Additionally, the formulations are free of harmful chemicals such as nanomaterials, fluorochemicals, heavy metals, fanal pigments, and polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE).

A Commitment to Innovation

By expanding its INXhrc RC product line, INX International continues to lead the charge in providing environmentally responsible printing solutions. The introduction of the low-migration INXhrc RC LM inks reflects the company's commitment to supporting brands and printers in meeting the growing demand for safe, sustainable, and high-performance packaging options.

As the packaging industry evolves, solutions like these set the standard for balancing innovation with ecological responsibility, ensuring a safer future for both consumers and the planet.
