Maximizing Efficiency: Adelphi Masterfil's Guide to Optimizing Packaging for Low Viscosity Products

In the ever-evolving landscape of beverage production, innovation is key to staying ahead. When Aston Manor, a renowned cider-centric company, embarked on launching a new product, they knew efficiency was paramount. Leveraging existing equipment alongside strategic upgrades, they sought to craft the perfect packaging solution for their latest venture.

At the helm of this endeavor was Paul Clifford, Aston Manor's adept Manufacturing & Engineering Director. Familiar with the quality of Yorkshire Packaging Systems (YPS), a trusted supplier, Paul turned to them for counsel on refining their packaging process.

Paul elaborated on their approach: "Efficiency and sustainability are embedded in Aston Manor's ethos. Collaborating with YPS, we explored integrating our underutilized equipment into the new line. The modularity of YPS machinery allowed seamless integration with newer components, aligning perfectly with our objectives."

The challenge lay in packaging a 24-pack of canned drinks securely onto trays, a task previously outsourced. Yet, with the adept guidance of YPS, Aston Manor not only brought this operation in-house but also streamlined it to sort multiple SKUs into a single mixed SKU case.

A pivotal asset in this transformation was the inclusion of the ULMA heat shrink tunnel from their existing line. With minimal adjustments, it seamlessly transitioned into the new setup. Complementing this, Aston Manor invested in a cutting-edge sleeve wrapper, equipped with an inline infeed tailored to their product specifications.

Prior to implementation, YPS rigorously tested Aston Manor's products on the proposed line, ensuring it exceeded throughput expectations. Once approved, their team of engineers seamlessly installed and validated the system, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.

The real game-changer was the flexibility afforded by the new inline sleeve sealer. Designed to adapt to future innovations or diverse product ranges, it promises enduring value for Aston Manor. Switching between products necessitates only minor adjustments, a testament to its user-friendly design.

Paul affirmed: "This investment not only boosts our packing capacity but also future-proofs our operations. YPS has consistently delivered exceptional equipment and support, and this collaboration underscores their commitment to our success."

Central to the package is the YPS Service Contract, guaranteeing ongoing maintenance and support, essential for seamless operations.

Glyn Johnson, MD of YPS, emphasized their client-centric approach: "Our priority is empowering clients with tailored solutions. For Aston Manor, integrating existing infrastructure into their new line was a clear win, demonstrating our dedication to efficiency."
