Michelman is gearing up to showcase its innovative suite of water-based primer and overprint varnish (OPV) solutions at drupa 2024, scheduled to take place in Hall 5/D21. This event will highlight Michelman's commitment to advancing the digital printing field, particularly through its strategic partnership with HP. Additionally, the company will feature its barrier and functional coatings for packaging, designed to deliver essential performance attributes while supporting sustainability and circular economy initiatives.
A key highlight of Michelman's presentation will be DigiPrime® Vision 9000, a cutting-edge primer that sets new standards for performance and compatibility. Approved by HP for use on the HP Indigo 6K and 8K Digital Presses, DigiPrime® Vision 9000 exemplifies Michelman’s dedication to innovation in digital printing solutions.
Michelman is also developing additional DigiPrime® Vision primers, including those tailored for the new HP Indigo V12 Digital Press. With these primers, print service providers can transition longer runs to digital printing, thereby reducing media waste and minimizing overstocking issues.
Michelman's product innovations extend beyond print-receptive primers. The company offers a broad portfolio of water-based, repulpable, and PFAS-free coatings. These include:
Barrier coatings:Resistance coatingsResistance coatingsrol the transmission of oxygen, mineral oil, and moisture vapor.
Resistance coatings: Provide protection against water, oil, and grease.
Adhesion promoters: Aid in extrusion and metallization processes.
Overprint coatings: Protect against marring, scratches, and UV light.
Heat seal coatings: Suitable for a range of initiation temperatures.
These technologies can be integrated into packaging structures to create comprehensive coating systems that deliver critical performance properties and improve end-of-life outcomes.
