Nova Circular Solutions will provide Winpak with Syndigo recycled PE for use in sustainable flexible packaging for food, beverage, and personal care products. This long-term agreement supports circular economy goals, with Nova’s Connersville facility enhancing rPE production.
Nova Circular Solutions has entered a long-term agreement with packaging supplier Winpak Ltd. to supply post-consumer recycled polyethylene (rPE) under its Syndigo brand. This partnership aims to promote circular solutions and sustainable packaging for flexible plastics in the food, beverage, and personal care sectors.
Winpak, based in Winnipeg, will incorporate Syndigo rPE from Nova into its packaging materials, ensuring the protection of perishable foods, beverages, and personal care products with an eco-friendly approach. The collaboration aligns with both companies' commitments to fostering sustainable packaging solutions.
“We are pleased to continue working with our longstanding client Winpak to deliver premium recycled PE resins for their flexible packaging needs,” said Greg DeKunder, Vice President of Nova Circular Solutions. “This agreement marks a significant step in delivering innovative, sustainable solutions for the flexible packaging industry, benefitting both customers and consumers.”
DeKunder noted that a recent survey indicated 75% of consumers agree that companies should increase their use of recycled materials in packaging. Nova's recycling facility in Connersville, Indiana, slated to open in early 2025, will produce over 110 million pounds of Syndigo rPE annually. Expected to be one of the largest and most advanced plastic film recycling facilities globally, it will supply post-consumer recycled linear low-density polyethylene (rLLDPE) for a wide range of applications, including flexible food packaging.
The FDA's letter of no objection for Syndigo products under food-contact conditions reinforces the quality and safety of this sustainable line, further underscoring Nova’s commitment to quality in recycled packaging.
