The story began under the name Technotraf, in a former textile factory in Spain, where the business initially produced wooden components for furniture. Its move into beauty packaging proved transformative. What started as a specialist capability became a distinctive category, bringing natural materials into a sector traditionally dominated by glass, plastic and metal.
A defining early milestone was the development of a wooden cap for Burberry Touch for Women. The closure did more than add a decorative element: it introduced warmth, texture and a more intimate sensory experience to fragrance packaging. At a time when premium beauty was seeking new ways to express authenticity and differentiation, wood offered a language of tactility, craft and natural refinement.

The company’s capabilities expanded with projects such as L’Eau d’Issey by Issey Miyake, where it developed a full-wood fragrance bottle. This required more than design ambition. Another important step came with makeup. For Guerlain’s Terracotta collection, Quadpack Wood created bespoke wooden compacts that transformed a colour cosmetics product into a collectible object. More recently, innovation has focused on making wood more functional and more circular. Shiseido challenged the company to remove plastic and intermediate materials from caps for new L’Eaux d’Issey fragrances. After a two-year development process, Quadpack Wood introduced Woodacity, a patented technology that enables wood to perform as a monomaterial mechanical solution.
This shift is significant for sustainable packaging design. Wood is no longer limited to an external decorative shell. With the right engineering, it can deliver precise mechanical performance while reducing reliance on mixed materials that complicate recycling, separation and circularity. The premium evolution, Woodacity Hidden, conceals the internal structure for a more seamless finish and has already been adopted in projects such as Guerlain’s limited-edition Habit Rouge Spirit.
The technology has also been extended with Puig for Adolfo Dominguez’s ADN fragrance line, where a monomaterial cap and collar assembly supports the wider industry movement towards simplified material structures. For brands under pressure to improve environmental performance without sacrificing desirability, such developments show how packaging innovation can serve both sustainability and luxury positioning.
Behind the product innovation is a manufacturing model built around responsible sourcing and cleaner production. Quadpack Wood uses wood from sustainably managed European forests and holds FSC and PEFC certifications. The factory works only with non-endangered species, selecting each wood type for density, hardness and suitability for long-lasting packaging applications.
Its operations are powered by 100% renewable electricity, while an onsite biomass boiler uses production scrap to support temperature control systems and wood-drying ovens. This creates a more circular use of by-products, reduces external waste treatment and lowers dependency on fossil fuels. Emissions controls at the site are designed to exceed regulatory requirements, reinforcing the link between premium manufacturing and environmental responsibility.
