Italian packaging technology specialist Siropack has signed an exclusive multi-year agreement with Goodpack to deploy its patented ‘Respect’ tray technology in Romania and Bulgaria.

Siropack and Goodpack Sign Exclusive Agreement to Bring ‘Respect’ Packaging Technology to Romania

Italian packaging technology specialist Siropack has entered 2026 with a strategic commercial agreement designed to strengthen its presence in Eastern Europe. The company, based in Cesenatico in Italy’s Emilia-Romagna region, has granted the Goodpack Sarl group an exclusive, multi-year licence for its patented tray edge treatment technology, known as Respect. The agreement covers Romania and Bulgaria and marks an important step in the regional rollout of advanced, mono-material food packaging solutions.

Goodpack, which operates through its Romanian and Bulgarian businesses, is the largest independent producer of thermoformed food packaging in Southeastern Europe. With combined revenues exceeding €50 million, the group runs three vertically integrated production facilities in the Balkans, incorporating both extrusion and thermoforming lines. Its portfolio focuses on fully recyclable, single-material thermoformed packaging for the food industry, developed in line with the latest European sustainability and PPWR requirements.

The exclusive agreement was signed by Siropack owners Rocco De Lucia and Barbara Burioli together with Goodpack Romania general manager Barabas Ferencz and Teda Pack CEOs Teodora and Danail Mladenov. According to De Lucia, discussions between the two companies began at the K trade fair in Düsseldorf in October 2025, where a shared commitment to sustainability and single-material packaging solutions quickly became clear.

“We immediately agreed on our commitment to sustainability and single-material solutions,” De Lucia said. “That is why we are confident that Goodpack is the right partner to bring our Respect technology to Romania, a strategically important country.” Goodpack selected the technology for a new, highly innovative food container that meets demanding standards for recycling, sustainability, food safety and intellectual property protection within the European market.

The patented Respect technology uses a specialised edge treatment to create what Siropack describes as the world’s first tamper-evident and anti-counterfeiting tray. It enables perfect sealing of single-material r-PET trays at lower temperatures and in shorter cycle times compared with conventional PET/PE containers. Certified benefits include improved food safety, higher productivity, enhanced sustainability, recyclability and circularity, while maintaining tray flatness and product freshness.

An additional feature of the technology is the use of luminophores within the recyclable glue applied to the tray edge, allowing visual verification that the tray has been correctly sealed. When combined with Piaceplast’s patented 100% PET lidding film, the solution delivers a fully mono-material packaging system. The films contain at least 80% recycled content and are designed in accordance with PPWR principles.

This exclusive solution supports total recyclability and food contact safety while promoting the use of recycled materials and reducing dependence on non-EU raw material sources. For Goodpack, the agreement enables the company to respond to growing market demand for compliant, high-performance food packaging, while for Siropack it represents a significant expansion of its patented technology into a key Eastern European market.
