Sisley teams up with Aptar Beauty to launch a preservative-free skincare cream, using high-tech Irresistible airless packaging to ensure microbiological safety and product integrity.

Sisley Launches Preservative-Free Cream with Aptar's Irresistible Airless Packaging

Sisley, the renowned French skincare brand, has taken a major step towards cleaner, safer formulations with the launch of its new preservative-free face cream for sensitive skin. At the heart of this launch lies a breakthrough in packaging technology: Aptar Beauty’s Irresistible airless solution, a high-performance protective system designed to prevent microbial contamination while maintaining product integrity.

What makes the Irresistible packaging truly stand out is its patented Preservative-Free System (PFS). This advanced barrier technology is engineered specifically for formulations with little to no preservatives, making it ideal for natural and sensitive skin products. The system includes a sterilizing micro filter combined with an innovative Tip Seal actuator that prevents any external contaminants from entering the packaging—even after repeated use.

The packaging also features a metal-free path pump and an airtight bag-in-bottle design that protects the sensitive formulation from air and moisture exposure. A multilayer pouch inside the bottle adds an extra layer of defense, enhancing the barrier properties and ensuring long-term product stability.

To ensure full protection from microbiological threats, the Irresistible system has successfully passed both CVIT (Challenge Validation of Integrity Test) and TSIT (Tip Seal Integrity Test) protocols. These certifications confirm that the packaging maintains complete microbial safety before and after opening—critical for preservative-free cosmetics.

Irresistible Airless is our best solution to meet consumers’ expectations for preservative-free products, while guaranteeing their safety, quality and optimal preservation,” said Florence Roullet, Global Laboratory & Quality Development Director at Aptar Beauty.

Another game-changing innovation is the use of Ultra-High Temperature (UHT) technology in the filling process. Developed in partnership with P&B Group, UHT is a patented sterilization process involving rapid heating followed by immediate cooling. This short yet effective treatment ensures microbial decontamination without compromising the formula’s efficacy or texture.

To further prevent contamination during packaging, a dedicated under-vacuum filling line was established in a sterile environment. This ensures that the UHT-treated bulk remains completely isolated from ambient air and human contact during assembly, preserving the product’s microbiological purity.

In terms of user experience, the Irresistible system delivers a consistent 150mcl dose with every pump, features a lockable actuator for safe transport, and excludes POM (polyoxymethylene) materials. Future iterations are already in the pipeline, including a full polyolefin container and a PFAS-free micro filter expected to launch in early 2026, aligning with growing sustainability demands.

Visually, the 40ml packaging has been manufactured and decorated in France, with a clean white color base, double silk-screen printing, and a glossy silver metal collar that reflects Sisley’s luxury brand identity. These visual and functional elements together create a high-end yet scientifically advanced product experience.

This collaboration between Sisley, Aptar Beauty, and P&B Group is a strong example of how technological innovation in packaging is playing a vital role in transforming the skincare industry—particularly as consumer preferences shift towards more natural and minimalist formulations.
