S.Lab, a Ukrainian startup, receives $100,000 from Google to develop its scalable biodegradable packaging, using agricultural waste and mycelium.
S.Lab, a Ukrainian eco-friendly packaging startup, has secured $100,000 in equity-free funding from Google as part of the Google for Startups Ukraine Support Fund. This funding will support S.Lab’s development of fully biodegradable packaging materials made from agricultural waste and mycelium, which degrade completely within 30 days. The packaging aims to replace traditional foamed plastics without compromising durability or insulation.
S.Lab’s proprietary technology uses automation and robotics to scale production, making it adaptable for a wide range of clients, from local businesses to multinational corporations. Founded in 2021 by Julia Bialetska and Eugene Tomilin, the company is focused on promoting sustainable alternatives to conventional packaging while also contributing to Ukraine’s economy.
This latest round of funding follows Google’s broader efforts to support 100 Ukrainian startups with financial aid, mentorship, and cloud services. Julia Bialetska, CEO of S.Lab, expressed her gratitude, noting how this recognition is helping Ukrainian startups gain visibility on the global stage, showcasing the innovative potential of their ecosystem.
By integrating robotics and innovative processes, S.Lab can efficiently meet growing market demand for sustainable packaging solutions, further positioning itself as a leader in the eco-friendly packaging industry.
