Tetra Pak has expanded its Binh Duong plant in Vietnam with a €97M investment, boosting packaging innovation and sustainability for the Asia Pacific food and beverage market.

Tetra Pak Expands Binh Duong Facility to Power Packaging Innovation Across Asia Pacific

Tetra Pak has officially launched its second aseptic carton packaging material production line at its Binh Duong facility in Vietnam, signaling a major step forward in the company’s commitment to innovation and sustainability across the Asia Pacific region. The €97 million expansion strengthens Tetra Pak’s capacity to meet growing demand for eco-conscious, high-performance packaging—especially in markets like Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Australia.

The upgraded Binh Duong site, now one of the most advanced aseptic packaging plants in the region, will support food and beverage producers with 15 additional packaging formats, faster production times, and increased output to over 30 billion packs annually. This move allows Tetra Pak to reduce lead times and bolster supply chain resilience throughout Asia Pacific.

Elevating Packaging Innovation for Southeast Asia

Adolfo Orive, President and CEO of Tetra Pak, emphasized the strategic importance of this expansion: “Today is a commitment to the customers and communities we serve in Vietnam and across Asia Pacific. We’re helping producers bring innovative, sustainable packaging solutions to market faster than ever.”

This includes packaging tailored to new consumer trends, particularly in the ready-to-drink (RTD) coffee segment in Singapore. Packaging formats such as the Tetra Prisma® Aseptic 1000 Square with HeliCap™ 27 and Tetra Brik® Aseptic 1000 Slim are optimized for both at-home and professional use. Additionally, the Tetra Prisma® Aseptic 500 Edge with DreamCap™ 26 offers a portable option for on-the-go consumers, reflecting growing preferences for convenience and premium aesthetics.

Accelerating Sustainability and Efficiency

Tetra Pak has now invested over €217 million in the Binh Duong facility since it opened in 2019, creating more than 350 jobs. Beyond capacity expansion, the factory exemplifies world-class sustainability practices and operates under LEED Version 4 Gold certification and World Class Manufacturing (WCM) standards.

  • AI-powered quality control improves production efficiency and reduces waste.
  • Continuous improvement programs are in place to reduce water and energy consumption.
  • Approximately 50% of production serves the domestic Vietnamese market, while the rest supports key regional partners.

Michael Wu, Managing Director for Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines & Indonesia, noted, “What sets us apart is our ability to collaborate closely with local brands to understand evolving needs. Our expanded capabilities enable faster go-to-market strategies and product differentiation.”

Meeting Asia’s Growing Market Demands

Asia Pacific's food and beverage market is one of the fastest-growing globally, with a projected value of USD 900 billion by 2028. Tetra Pak’s expansion in Vietnam is strategically aligned with this growth, offering regional brands a scalable, sustainable packaging partner capable of meeting both local and international standards.

“This expansion is a proud milestone for Tetra Pak and a reflection of our long-term commitment to the region’s sustainable growth,” Wu concluded.

With the Binh Duong factory now a cornerstone of Tetra Pak’s Asia Pacific strategy, the company is poised to lead in packaging innovation while contributing to economic development and environmental stewardship in the region.
