Twellium Industrial Company partners with Sidel to launch Africa’s fastest PET water packaging line in Kumasi, Ghana, enhancing efficiency and creating local jobs.
Twellium Industrial Company, a prominent player in the beverage industry, has partnered with Sidel to establish a state-of-the-art PET packaging facility in Kumasi, Ghana. This new hub is a significant step forward for beverage packaging in Africa, with the installation of two advanced PET lines designed for both still and carbonated drinks.
The facility is equipped with Sidel’s innovative Combi solution, combining blow molding, filling, and capping processes into a single compact system. This setup is touted as Africa's fastest complete PET water line, capable of producing 80,000 bottles per hour. The site also includes a specialized line for carbonated beverages, operating at 65,000 bottles per hour. The high efficiency and speed of these systems ensure that Twellium can meet rising consumer demand while maintaining cost-effectiveness.
In addition to the impressive speed, the plant boasts several innovations to enhance sustainability and product traceability. For instance, the EvoDECO Roll-Fed labeller applies QR codes on bottle caps, which enhances traceability and ensures compliance with local regulations. This integration of digital technology allows consumers and regulators to track product authenticity and safety.
Twellium’s partnership with Sidel not only brings technological advancement but also creates numerous regional jobs, contributing to Ghana's growing beverage sector. According to Twellium’s marketing director, Ali Ajami, this collaboration is key to boosting local production capacity while maintaining affordable pricing for consumers.
This PET packaging hub represents a critical leap forward for Twellium and the region, with potential expansions likely as demand for PET-packaged beverages continues to rise in West Africa. The facility is also equipped with a water treatment room and an automated cleaning-in-place (CIP) system, ensuring the highest standards of hygiene and food safety.
Overall, this partnership highlights the importance of innovation and sustainability in meeting the dynamic needs of the beverage industry while supporting regional growth in Ghana’s burgeoning economy.
