Explore Apple's strategic partnership with Amkor, investing $2 billion in a cutting-edge chip packaging facility, reinforcing their commitment to U.S. manufacturing and a $430 billion investment plan.
Apple has announced an expanded partnership with Amkor, solidifying its position as the primary and largest customer for Amkor's new manufacturing and packaging facility in Peoria, Arizona. This state-of-the-art facility is set to package Apple silicon originating from the nearby TSMC fab, where Apple holds the distinction of being the largest customer.
Having shared a collaborative history spanning over a decade, Apple and Amkor have been pivotal in packaging chips extensively utilized across all Apple products. Aligned in their vision to bolster domestic manufacturing, the two companies have jointly conceived plans to establish the largest outsourced advanced packaging facility in the United States. Amkor's commitment to invest approximately $2 billion in this groundbreaking project will lead to the employment of over 2,000 individuals upon completion.
This strategic move is in line with Apple's broader commitment, announced in 2021, to invest $430 billion in the U.S. economy over five years. Apple is making significant strides toward achieving this goal, channeling investments into direct collaborations with American suppliers, data center advancements, U.S. capital expenditures, and various other domestic expenditures.
