In a strategic move to enhance their market position, Nordic food packaging giants BEWI and STOK Emballage (STOK) have agreed on a merger that will bring together their expertise in food and seafood packaging solutions across Northern Europe. BEWI, known for its advanced seafood packaging, will contribute its extensive network in Norway and Iceland, while STOK will add its strong presence in Denmark and Greenland, alongside a comprehensive portfolio of packaging, machinery, and logistics services.

The merger aims to leverage each company’s strengths to create a versatile, full-service packaging entity spanning multiple regions, with annual combined sales projected to reach €190 million. The joint venture highlights a shared commitment to sustainable and innovative packaging solutions, addressing the rising demands for food safety and environmental compliance in packaging.

Christian Bekken, CEO of BEWI, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, citing STOK’s track record of consistent growth and a broad portfolio that complements BEWI’s offerings. STOK’s facilities, strategically located across Denmark, Norway, and Greenland, will serve as hubs to enhance distribution and logistical capacities. The new combined company is set to strengthen its leadership in food packaging, particularly for seafood, by providing specialized, compliant packaging solutions tailored to the needs of the region's vast seafood industry.

As part of the merger agreement, BEWI will receive a cash consideration of €20 million and retain a 15% stake in the new entity, underscoring its ongoing commitment to the partnership and future growth.
