Crest Capital acquires Tecnopack and related companies to create an integrated Portuguese packaging platform spanning production, labels and logistics.

Crest Capital Builds Integrated Packaging Platform Through Tecnopack Acquisition

Crest Capital consolidates Portuguese packaging businesses

Crest Capital Partners has acquired the Tecnopack Group together with several related packaging businesses, creating a broader integrated platform serving industrial and agri-food customers in Portugal.

The transaction brings together Tecnopack, Embalpom, Seven Way – Pack Solutions, Tectray, Teclogistics and Etirótulos, as well as other subsidiaries included within the deal perimeter.

The resulting group combines capabilities across packaging equipment, production, logistics, labelling and technical support.

Transaction brings complementary packaging activities together

The acquired companies operate across different parts of the packaging value chain rather than competing exclusively in a single product category.

Tecnopack specialises in packaging equipment and technical assistance, while other businesses within the group contribute capabilities in packaging production, logistics and labelling.

By combining these operations within a single platform, Crest aims to create a more integrated offering for customers requiring both packaging materials and associated equipment and services.

Industrial and food customers remain key markets

The enlarged platform has a significant presence in industrial and agri-food applications, sectors where packaging requirements often involve a combination of materials, machinery, labelling and technical support.

For customers, a broader supplier base can simplify procurement by reducing the number of separate partners needed for equipment, consumables, labels and logistics.

The strategy also creates opportunities for cross-selling between companies that previously operated independently.

Portuguese competition authority clears the deal

The transaction was formally notified to Portugal’s Competition Authority in June 2026.

On 15 July, the authority issued a non-opposition decision, concluding that the concentration was not expected to create significant obstacles to effective competition in the Portuguese market.

The approval allowed Crest to proceed with the integration of the businesses under a common ownership structure.

Packaging sector continues to attract consolidation

The deal reflects a broader trend towards consolidation in fragmented packaging markets, where scale can improve purchasing power, operational efficiency and geographic coverage.

Private equity-backed platforms are increasingly combining converters, equipment suppliers and service businesses to create groups capable of serving larger customers across multiple packaging requirements.

This model can also support investment in automation, digitalisation and production capacity that may be more difficult for smaller independent companies to finance individually.

Integrated platform may support further expansion

The acquisition gives Crest a broader operational base from which to pursue future growth in Portugal and potentially other Iberian markets.

Combining production, labelling, logistics and equipment services could also make the platform more resilient by diversifying revenue across different parts of the packaging supply chain.

For the Portuguese packaging sector, the transaction represents a significant consolidation move and illustrates growing investor interest in businesses that can combine manufacturing capabilities with technical and service expertise.
