Globe Packaging adds Fill-It paper void fill system to UK portfolio
Globe Packaging has become an authorised UK distributor of the Fill-It paper void fill dispensing system, expanding its range of paper-based protective packaging solutions for e-commerce and fulfilment operations.
The system is designed as an alternative to plastic-based void fill materials such as air pillows and loose-fill packaging, using paper produced from 100% recycled materials that can be recycled through standard paper waste streams.
According to Globe Packaging, each Fill-It unit dispenses material from a 450-metre roll and operates manually, eliminating the need for electricity or specialist equipment at packing stations.
Manual system targets e-commerce packing operations
Void fill is commonly used to prevent products from moving inside shipping boxes and to provide additional cushioning during transport. The continued growth of e-commerce has therefore maintained demand for protective packaging that can combine operational efficiency with lower material impact.
Fill-It has been designed with a compact footprint, making it suitable for fulfilment centres and packing environments where available workspace is limited.
Because the system does not require electrical power or specialist training, it can also be integrated into existing packing processes without major infrastructure changes.
“The Fill-It system fits well because it doesn't require any change to how a packing team works. It's a straightforward swap that lets businesses move in the right direction without disrupting their operation,” said Anish Aggarwal, co-founder and managing director of Globe Packaging.
Paper alternatives gain ground in protective packaging
The addition comes as packaging suppliers continue to expand paper-based alternatives to conventional plastic protective packaging, particularly for e-commerce applications.
Businesses operating in the UK are also facing increased pressure to reduce their use of plastic packaging, driven by sustainability commitments, consumer expectations and measures including the UK Plastic Packaging Tax.
For packaging buyers, however, switching materials involves more than replacing plastic with paper. Void fill systems must continue to provide adequate cushioning, maintain packing speeds and fit existing fulfilment workflows while avoiding unnecessary increases in material consumption.
Globe Packaging said it will supply Fill-It dispensers in both individual and bulk quantities as part of its wider range of cushioning and protective packaging products.
The development reflects the broader shift towards fibre-based protective packaging formats that can be introduced into existing logistics operations with limited changes to equipment or packing processes.
