Groupe Guillin Acquires Two Packaging Companies in Belgium

Groupe Guillin, the European leader in food packaging solutions and related materials, has announced the acquisition of two Belgian packaging companies through its French subsidiary Alterecopack. The transaction includes Gruyaert Verpakking Srl and Verpakkingen V de V Sa, further strengthening the group’s presence in the customized cardboard packaging segment.

Gruyaert Verpakking is recognised as Belgium’s leading manufacturer of customised cardboard pastry boxes, while Verpakkingen V de V is responsible for distributing Gruyaert products across the Belgian market, alongside a complementary range of packaging solutions. In 2024, the two companies generated combined revenues of approximately €19 million and employed around 40 people.

This acquisition aligns with Groupe Guillin’s long-term growth strategy, aimed at expanding its product offering to meet the evolving needs of customers across the food packaging value chain. By integrating Gruyaert and V de V, the group reinforces its expertise in printed and customised paper and cardboard packaging, while strengthening its WEFOLD paper-based packaging operations.

Sophie Guillin, CEO of Groupe Guillin, highlighted the strategic and cultural fit of the acquisition, noting that both Belgian companies are family-owned businesses with a strong commitment to product quality and manufacturing excellence. She emphasised that their technical expertise, operational rigour, and advanced production processes will further enhance Guillin’s capabilities in high-value, customised packaging solutions.

From the sellers’ perspective, Frank Van de Vloet underlined that the partnership marks the beginning of a new chapter for Gruyaert and V de V. Joining a dynamic, family-owned European group with shared values will allow the companies to continue offering high-quality, customisable packaging products manufactured in Europe, supported by reliable logistics and strong customer focus.

Founded in 1972, Groupe Guillin is a French family-owned group and the preferred packaging partner for customers in catering, agri-food, fruit and vegetable, and institutional catering sectors. The acquisition further consolidates its leadership position in the European food packaging market, while supporting its ambition to deliver comprehensive, sustainable, and customer-driven packaging solutions.
