Indorama Ventures and REBHAN launch glass-like PET bottles for beauty brands, with recycled and renewable feedstock options.
Indorama and REBHAN target premium beauty packaging
Indorama Ventures and German packaging manufacturer REBHAN have partnered to introduce a new PET packaging solution designed to combine the visual qualities of glass with the lower weight and durability associated with plastic.
The collaboration brings together Indorama Ventures’ expertise in specialty PET materials with REBHAN’s experience in cosmetic packaging design and production, targeting premium beauty and personal care applications.
LUXYCLEAR delivers glass-like clarity
The companies are using LUXYCLEAR EBM PET 5508, a specialty PET grade developed for extrusion blow moulding.
The material enables thick-wall bottles with high clarity and transparency, allowing cosmetic brands to achieve a glass-like appearance while retaining PET’s lighter weight, shatter resistance and handling advantages.
Extrusion blow moulding expands design options
The grade has been designed specifically for extrusion blow moulding, a process that allows manufacturers to create a broad range of bottle shapes and wall structures.
For premium cosmetics, this can provide greater design flexibility while maintaining the substantial visual and tactile characteristics traditionally associated with heavier glass packaging.
Recycled PET option reaches 100%
In addition to conventional virgin PET, LUXYCLEAR EBM PET 5508 is available in versions containing up to 100% chemically recycled feedstock.
This allows brands to incorporate recycled material while maintaining the clarity, colour and processing performance required for high-end packaging applications.
Renewable feedstock also available
The material can also be supplied using mass-balance-certified renewable feedstock, providing another route for brands seeking to reduce dependence on virgin fossil resources.
Offering several feedstock options gives packaging developers greater flexibility to balance design, performance, recycled content and corporate sustainability targets.
PET competes with glass in premium categories
Glass has traditionally dominated fragrance, skincare and premium personal care packaging because of its clarity, weight and perceived quality.
Heavy-wall PET is increasingly challenging that position by replicating some of the same visual characteristics while reducing transport weight and eliminating the risk of breakage during filling, distribution and consumer use.
Recyclability remains part of the value proposition
PET also benefits from established recycling infrastructure in many markets, although the real recyclability of the finished pack still depends on components such as pumps, closures, decorations and local collection systems.
For beauty brands, simplifying the material structure and designing decorative elements for compatibility with PET recycling can therefore be just as important as selecting the base resin itself.
Global availability supports multinational brands
The new packaging platform is commercially available to beauty and personal care companies across Europe, the Americas and Asia.
This geographic availability can help multinational brands maintain more consistent packaging specifications across markets while selecting different feedstock options according to local sustainability requirements.
Luxury packaging broadens its material choices
The collaboration reflects a wider change in premium beauty packaging, where luxury aesthetics are increasingly being developed alongside recyclability, lightweighting and recycled-content objectives.
By combining glass-like clarity with multiple PET feedstock routes, Indorama Ventures and REBHAN are positioning the new platform as an alternative for brands that want to maintain a premium appearance while broadening the material and circularity options available to them.
