JBM Packaging opens new Lebanon facility

JBM Packaging has opened a new 52,500-square-foot facility in Lebanon, Ohio, expanding its contract packaging, kitting and filling operations as demand for outsourced packaging services continues to grow.

Located approximately one mile from the company’s existing headquarters, the purpose-built operation replaces rented premises previously used for contract packaging activities and provides additional capacity for future expansion.

Machine capacity increases by 50%

The new site increases JBM Packaging’s total machine capacity by approximately 50%, allowing the company to handle a larger share of customers’ packaging requirements from planning and production through to finished product distribution.

The additional capacity is intended to support both existing accounts and expansion into new markets as brands increasingly look for packaging partners capable of combining manufacturing with filling, assembly and fulfilment-related services.

Contract packaging operations move closer to headquarters

JBM launched its contract packaging business from rented premises in Queensgate in 2021. Growth in demand eventually created the need for a larger, dedicated facility.

Bringing these operations back to Lebanon places them close to the company’s main manufacturing base, allowing teams, materials and finished products to move more efficiently between locations.

Facility designed around material flow

The building features 28-foot clear-height ceilings, high-density warehouse racking and a layout developed to improve the movement of packaging materials and completed goods.

The site also includes loading infrastructure intended to support inbound materials and outbound orders while giving JBM greater flexibility as contract packaging volumes increase.

Temperature-controlled storage supports agricultural customers

The facility includes approximately 35,000 cubic feet of temperature-controlled seed storage, supporting JBM’s longstanding activities in agricultural and seed packaging.

Controlled storage allows sensitive products to remain under more stable environmental conditions before packaging and distribution, integrating warehousing more closely with the company’s filling and packing operations.

Up to 50 additional jobs planned

JBM says the expansion could support up to 50 new employees as production volumes grow.

The company also intends to use the site to expand its Fair Chance employment programme, which creates work opportunities for individuals rebuilding their careers after incarceration. Approximately 40% of JBM hires currently enter the company through the programme.

Further expansion remains possible

The new facility was constructed on an 11-acre site with room for further development. Earlier planning documents included the possibility of adding another building of approximately 52,000 square feet if future demand requires additional capacity.

This gives JBM the ability to expand its Lebanon operations without having to identify another production location as the contract packaging business grows.

Packaging suppliers broaden service capabilities

The investment reflects a wider shift among packaging manufacturers towards providing more integrated services. Customers increasingly seek partners capable of combining packaging production with filling, kitting, assembly, warehousing and logistics coordination.

By increasing machine capacity and consolidating contract packaging activities close to its existing manufacturing base, JBM is positioning the new Lebanon facility as a platform for broader growth across paper packaging and outsourced packaging services.
