Macpac Triples Export Business, Targets Global Expansion

Macpac, a prominent UK thermoformed packaging manufacturer, has achieved remarkable success by tripling its export business over the past five years. Currently selling to 17 countries globally, including the recent addition of Australia in 2023, the company plans for further international growth.

Macpac is experiencing a surge in demand for its high-quality, innovative, and sustainable plastic packaging solutions, especially from overseas medical, horticultural, and food manufacturers.

Graham Kershaw, Macpac’s Managing Director, notes, "In a competitive market, a series of initiatives aimed at increasing capacity, strengthening operating efficiencies, developing sustainable packaging, and improving customer experience has fueled largely organic export growth."

Graham adds, "Keen to build on this momentum, recent investments in new thermoforming equipment and an ongoing commitment to sustainability position us well to meet the growing global demand for our products."

With full AA+ accreditation for packaging materials from BRCGS (British Retail Consortium Global Standards), Macpac supplies thermoformed packs for various food and beverage sectors, including confectionery, bakery, and snacks. The trays, containers, box inserts, clam packs, and flow wrap trays, made from food-grade raw materials, offer functionality, security, and brand impact.

Produced from either standard rPET (recycled PET) or medical-grade PET, the packs are ideal for a wide range of sterile and non-sterile packaging applications, including surgical instruments, implantable devices, needles, syringes, pill dispensing, and facilitating self-administration of measured medication doses.

Most of Macpac’s thermoformed packaging products are 100% recyclable, produced from rPET with at least 70% recycled content.
