Sprintpackage expands production in Guangzhou

Guangzhou Shangpin Packaging Products, operating under the Sprintpackage brand, has relocated its manufacturing operations to a new 20,000-square-metre facility in Guangzhou’s Baiyun District as it seeks to expand production capacity for paper-based tube packaging.

The move was completed in June 2026 and has increased annual output to between two and three times the company’s previous production level. Sprintpackage supplies packaging primarily for food, cosmetics and health supplement applications, with a significant share of its customers located in Europe and the Middle East.

Six automated lines support higher output

The new factory contains six automated production lines covering key manufacturing stages including tube winding, slitting, paper mounting, curling and final assembly.

Equipment installed ahead of the opening includes automated winding machines, paper mounting systems, rotary curling equipment and high-speed assembly machinery. Sprintpackage says automation now represents more than 80% of operations at the site.

Daily production reaches up to 300,000 units

The expanded production base is capable of manufacturing approximately 200,000 to 300,000 paper packaging units per day, giving the company additional capacity to support international customers and larger-volume contracts.

The company has worked with more than 10,000 clients since 2014 and supplies customised paper tubes to more than 500 international sushi chains.

Sushi packaging becomes a major application

One of the main product categories supported by the new facility is paper tube packaging for sushi and other food applications. Sprintpackage expects the factory to ship between 10 million and 15 million sushi tubes annually.

The company says these products comply with the European EC 1935/2004 requirements for food-contact materials and are produced under the BRC Global Standard for Packaging.

Automation aims to improve consistency and cost control

Higher levels of automation are intended to increase production consistency while reducing manual handling across several converting and assembly processes.

For paper tube manufacturers, automated winding, mounting and curling can help improve dimensional accuracy and repeatability, particularly when production volumes increase and customers require multiple customised formats.

Paper tubes target multiple consumer markets

Beyond food packaging, the Guangzhou plant will also manufacture paper tubes for cosmetics, personal care and dietary supplement products.

These formats are increasingly used by brands looking for rigid paper-based alternatives capable of delivering premium presentation while supporting wider sustainability and plastic-reduction strategies.

European compliance remains important for exports

Sprintpackage says the new facility has been designed with international market requirements in mind, including European food-contact standards and evolving packaging waste regulations.

For Chinese packaging manufacturers serving overseas customers, demonstrating regulatory compliance and consistent quality is becoming increasingly important as brands strengthen supplier requirements around materials, traceability and environmental performance.

New facility supports global expansion

The investment reflects continued growth in demand for customised paper-based packaging across food and premium consumer goods markets. Expanding domestic capacity while increasing automation can help manufacturers reduce lead times and support more complex customer requirements.

With the new Guangzhou plant now operational, Sprintpackage is positioning itself to increase export volumes while broadening its role in the international paper tube packaging market.
