Amazon replaces bubble-wrap envelopes with 100% recyclable paper-padded packaging for UK deliveries, enhancing sustainability without compromising protection.
Amazon has introduced a new paper-padded envelope for deliveries to UK addresses, as part of its commitment to reducing unnecessary packaging. This innovative envelope is made from lightweight, recyclable paper with a shock-absorbent lining. Unlike the old bubble wrap-lined versions, the new envelopes contain no plastic, making them more environmentally friendly. Despite being thin, the corrugate inner lining provides strong protection. Available in three sizes, these envelopes are designed for a variety of everyday items, offering both flexibility and maximum protection.
Thais Blumer, Amazon’s European head of sustainable packaging, highlighted the challenge of developing this 100% recyclable envelope that offers the same level of protection as bubble wrap. These new packages are easy to recycle at home, are lighter than equivalent cardboard boxes, and ensure safe, damage-free deliveries.
This shift is a major step in Amazon’s sustainability efforts, aiming to reduce its environmental footprint while maintaining efficient, high-quality packaging solutions.
