Bioleader®, a global leader in biodegradable food packaging, has introduced a new line of compostable knives, forks, and spoons made from CPLA and cornstarch. The products combine high strength, 90°C heat resistance, and full EN13432 compostability. Designed for cafés, catering, and airlines, the range helps global buyers reduce carbon emissions and comply with single-use plastic bans across major markets.
According to the United Nations Environment Programme, more than 430 million tons of plastic waste are produced each year, with nearly half used for single-use packaging. Plastic cutlery accounts for a major share, yet less than 10% is recycled due to contamination and mixed materials. Bioleader® aims to solve this issue with a line that performs like plastic but decomposes within 180 days.
Made from CPLA and cornstarch, Bioleader’s compostable utensils are certified under EN13432, ASTM D6400, and BPI standards. They resist heat up to 90°C, making them suitable for hot soups, rice dishes, and beverages. Every piece is food-safe, non-toxic, and leaves no microplastics after decomposition.
“Our clients no longer have to choose between performance and planet,” said Lynn Chen, Bioleader®’s International Sales Director. “This new cutlery line reduces lifecycle CO₂ emissions by up to 70% compared to PP plastic while maintaining the same durability and comfort.”
A recent Bioleader® field test compared conventional polypropylene cutlery with the new compostable range. The results showed a 41N break strength (vs. 38N for PP) and complete composting within 6 months in industrial facilities.
The company’s factory in Xiamen operates under BRC and ISO 22000 certifications, ensuring strict quality control from raw material sourcing to export packaging. Its products already serve more than 40 international markets, including Europe, North America, and the Middle East.
Bioleader®’s compostable knives, forks, and spoons are available in natural beige or white, with OEM/ODM customization such as embossed branding and paper box packaging. For large buyers, private-label and bulk supply options are available.
Beyond performance, Bioleader® is focused on measurable environmental impact. A 2024 partnership with a Southeast Asian airline replaced over 12 million plastic utensils, cutting CO₂ emissions by 9.6 tons monthly while improving brand image and customer satisfaction.
