Cano Water reduces its carbon footprint by relocating production from Austria to the UK, supporting sustainability and providing eco-friendly canned water.

Cano Water's Carbon Footprint Reduction with UK Production Shift

Cano Water, renowned as the "world's first canned water brand," has made a significant move to reduce its carbon emissions by shifting its production from Austria to the UK. This strategic decision aligns with the company's ongoing commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility.

Founded in 2015, Cano Water was established with the mission of combating the global plastic pollution crisis. The brand has been a pioneer in offering consumers a sustainable alternative to single-use plastic water bottles. Cano Water's innovative approach has garnered a loyal following, and its products are now readily available in major retailers such as Tesco and Ocado.

In a significant development, Cano Water will now source its water from a pristine and undisclosed location in the English countryside. This change has reportedly resulted in halving the company's carbon footprint, marking a substantial achievement in their environmental goals. The water is drawn from an impressive depth of over 240 metres and undergoes natural filtration through the unique sandstone geology of the aquifer. This process ensures that the water retains an exceptionally clean and natural taste, setting it apart from other brands.

Once extracted, the water will be transported to a state-of-the-art packaging facility located in Yorkshire. This new supply chain arrangement underscores Cano Water's dedication to sustainability and efficiency in its operations.

Josh White, CEO and Co-Founder of Cano Water, expressed his excitement about this strategic shift. He stated, "By partnering with UK suppliers, we’re thrilled to continue our mission of providing consumers with a sustainable alternative to bottled water, while minimising our environmental impact even further."

This move not only strengthens Cano Water's environmental credentials but also supports local UK businesses, contributing to the domestic economy. By localizing their production and sourcing, Cano Water is setting a precedent in the beverage industry for how brands can successfully combine business growth with a strong commitment to reducing their environmental footprint.

Cano Water's shift to UK-based production is a testament to the brand's innovative spirit and unwavering dedication to sustainability. It highlights the positive impact that thoughtful, strategic decisions can have on the environment while continuing to provide high-quality products to consumers.
