CG Roxane launches the EZ-Cap, a new tethered cap design for Crystal Geyser bottles, to reduce plastic waste and boost recyclability in the U.S. market.
In a bid to tackle plastic waste, CG Roxane, the distributor of Crystal Geyser Natural Alpine Spring Water, has launched a new tethered cap design called EZ-Cap. This innovation, the first of its kind in the U.S., ensures the cap remains attached to the bottle, reducing the risk of litter and improving recyclability. Although similar caps are already required in Europe, this marks a significant step for the U.S. market. CG Roxane invested over a year in developing the product, which is currently used on 8-ounce bottles.
The move aligns with the company's commitment to sustainability, as Lionel Ferchaud, VP of Operations, emphasized the need to transition to eco-friendly packaging. This initiative follows the company's previous environmental actions, including the creation of an in-house recycled PET plant and the installation of solar panels at their San Bernardino facility. By adopting this technology, CG Roxane continues to position itself as a leader in the beverage industry's shift toward more sustainable practices.
While the tethered cap design is a notable development, the company aims to expand its use to larger bottles, driving further reductions in plastic waste. The cap, made of low-density polyethylene, can be easily recycled, ensuring that more plastic reaches recycling centers. This launch is part of CG Roxane's broader strategy to minimize its environmental footprint while encouraging consumers to embrace alternatives to single-use plastics.
