Discover Coveris' MonoFlex Fibre range, offering eco-friendly paper-based packaging solutions that meet European recycling standards by 2030.
Coveris unveils its latest innovation, the MonoFlex Fibre range, in response to the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation mandating all European market packaging to be reusable or recyclable by 2030. This shift extends producer responsibility to post-consumer phases, prompting brands to rethink packaging types. MonoFlex Fibre by Coveris introduces a lineup of paper-based flexible packaging designed for recyclability within the paper stream.
"As part of our No Waste strategy, Coveris focuses on selecting the most eco-efficient and high-performance packaging for each product, rather than a simple choice between paper or plastic. By expanding our portfolio to include paper-based options and reducing plastic usage in packaging for items requiring external protection, we aim to offer customers the best solution aligned with their brand vision and product requirements," explained Melinda Bonamour, Market Development Director for Paper Flexibles at Coveris.
The new packaging range is segmented into two categories: MonoFlex Fibre Pure, featuring a single functional paper layer, and MonoFlex Fibre, a multi-layer structure maximizing paper content. Coveris offers various subcategories within each, catering to both primary and secondary packaging needs with sealing and barrier properties. Moreover, transitioning to paper-based structures requires minimal changes to customer machinery and proves efficient on standard packaging lines.
Available as pre-formed bags and form-fill-seal (FFS) solutions, MonoFlex Fibre products provide barrier properties against grease, moisture, oxygen, oils, or minerals. The packaging ensures brand visibility on shelves, supporting rotogravure, flexographic, and digital printing options.
