DePoly inaugurates a showcase PET recycling plant in Monthey, Switzerland, demonstrating depolymerization technology and supporting future commercial expansion.
DePoly has inaugurated a showcase depolymerization plant in Monthey, Switzerland, aimed at demonstrating its PET recycling technology at industrial scale. The facility breaks down PET waste into its original chemical components and recreates virgin-quality raw materials suitable for all PET applications.
Claimed to be the first facility of its kind and scale in Switzerland, the plant has a nominal capacity of approximately 500 tonnes of feedstock per year and is expected to generate 12 direct and 30 indirect jobs. The showcase plant will enable DePoly to optimize processes, qualify raw materials with industrial customers, and gather operational data to inform its first commercial facility, targeting 50,000 tonnes per year, with a location to be announced in the first half of 2027.
The inauguration on July 6-7 brought together investors including Una Terra Venture Capital, Infinity, BASF, and Beiersdorf.
In related developments, the EU’s Just Transition Fund awarded €1.5 million to BlueAlp and LBC Tank Terminals for their large-scale chemical recycling plant, and Plastipak introduced its pakPET Single Pellet Solution, designed to help manufacturers increase recycled content while maintaining product quality and operational efficiency.
