The future of packaging with digital die-cutting technology. Korrvu packaging offers efficiency, sustainability, and customizable solutions for diverse needs.

Digital Die-Cutting Transforms Korrvu Packaging for Efficient and Sustainable Solutions

Sealed Air (SEE) is set to revolutionize its Sealed Air brand Korrvu retention and suspension packaging through the implementation of cutting-edge digital die-cutting capabilities. The primary goal is to significantly reduce production lead times and optimize storage space at customer facilities.

Korrvu Packaging Innovation

Korrvu packaging is designed to envelop products in a low-slip film, providing protection against shock and vibration without compromising visibility. Notably, the packaging itself is kerbside recyclable, with the plastic film easily detachable for consumer recycling.

Transformation through Digital Die Cutting

The introduction of digital die-cutting technology aims to streamline production processes, with the expectation of reducing lead times from months to mere weeks. This advancement allows customers the flexibility to place smaller minimum orders, eliminating the need for on-site storage of excess packaging.

Moreover, the adoption of digital technology is poised to unlock the potential for high-volume and short-run orders, facilitating on-demand production. This, in turn, minimizes warehouse space requirements, enabling customers to store only the necessary amount of packaging.

Customization and Sustainability

Digital die-cutting eliminates the necessity for physical tooling, providing customers with the ability to tailor designs based on specific products, seasons, locations, and customer preferences. The corrugate material can be intricately engraved using lasers, differentiating the packaging from that of market competitors.

In addition to enhancing customization, digital finishing is expected to contribute to sustainability efforts by simplifying supply chain operations. Korrvu packaging already contains a minimum of 50% recycled content, supports reusability, and is recyclable at kerbside.

Ingo Lublow, EMEA Director Protective & Equipment Marketing at SEE, emphasized the transformative impact of the digital capabilities: "Our new digital Korrvu capabilities eliminate the need for custom tooling, so our customers can get their designs prototyped, sampled, and into production much more quickly."

Continued Innovation and Sustainability Initiatives

SEE's commitment to innovation and sustainability is evident in its recent initiatives. The PACK DIGITAL event held in Milan marked the launch of the prismiq portfolio, focusing on design services, digital printing, and connected packaging.

The company has also made significant strides in incorporating sustainability into its product lines. The BubbleWrap Brand inflatable air pillows now contain a minimum of 95% recycled plastic content. Additionally, SEE has introduced a paper-based bottom web to assist food processors and retailers in reducing plastic usage, aligning with growing consumer preferences for paper-based packaging.

Sealed Air's strategic embrace of digital technology in packaging not only enhances operational efficiency but also underscores its dedication to environmentally responsible practices in the ever-evolving landscape of packaging solutions.
