Flexcon Global expands its sustainable film portfolio with new pressure-sensitive label materials featuring recycled content and recyclable rPET liners.

Flexcon Unveils Sustainable Film Line with Recycled Content and Recyclable Liners

Flexcon Global, a leading manufacturer of adhesive coating and functional film solutions, has announced a major expansion of its sustainable packaging portfolio with the launch of new eco-conscious pressure-sensitive films. These films, which include options made from recycled content and recyclable PET liners, aim to support brands striving to meet aggressive sustainability goals without compromising performance or aesthetics.

Unveiled in late March 2025, the new line is part of Flexcon’s Sustainable Solutions portfolio, which has been steadily growing in response to increased demand from brand owners and converters seeking responsible material choices. The release includes multiple innovations designed for pressure-sensitive label applications, particularly in the personal care, beverage, and household goods sectors.

Key among these offerings is the expansion of the company’s 90% post-consumer recycled (PCR) content film line, which now includes both clear and white versions. These films deliver the same visual and application performance as virgin plastic but with a dramatically reduced environmental footprint. Flexcon also introduced new rPET liners that are curbside recyclable and compatible with existing label converting equipment, making them a practical drop-in solution.

According to the company, these solutions were developed in close collaboration with sustainability-focused brand owners and packaging converters. The objective was to create materials that meet environmental targets such as recyclability, lower carbon footprint, and increased use of recycled content—while still delivering the durability, printability, and shelf appeal required in competitive retail environments.

Importantly, these new materials support circularity by using substrates that can re-enter the recycling stream or contain significant portions of reclaimed content. For example, Flexcon’s clear PCR film is ideal for applications where the label must blend seamlessly into clear packaging, giving the appearance of direct printing while still enabling full recyclability.

“Sustainability doesn’t have to mean sacrifice,” said a Flexcon spokesperson. “We’re demonstrating that it’s possible to deliver premium packaging experiences while also advancing environmental goals. Our newest products are a testament to our commitment to both innovation and responsibility.”

In addition to the materials themselves, Flexcon is also providing support for brands looking to certify packaging claims, offering guidance around recyclability labeling, material traceability, and third-party certification processes. This holistic approach positions Flexcon not just as a materials provider but as a strategic partner in the sustainability transition.

The move is timely. With the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) and other global initiatives pushing for recyclability, reduction in virgin plastics, and increased transparency, brands are under pressure to align packaging strategies with new legislative and consumer expectations. Solutions like Flexcon’s new films help bridge the gap between performance and compliance.

“The future of packaging is circular, and material innovation is the bridge to get us there,” Flexcon stated in its announcement.

As more companies look to scale up sustainable initiatives, materials that combine functionality, brandability, and eco-responsibility will become increasingly vital. With this launch, Flexcon reinforces its leadership role in the evolving sustainable packaging landscape.
