Italian kiwifruit leader Jingold achieves 96% recycled packaging and outlines 16 key sustainability priorities in its first-ever environmental impact report.

Jingold Achieves 96% Recycled Packaging in First Sustainability Report

Jingold, the Italian premium kiwifruit company, has unveiled its first-ever sustainability report, marking a significant step forward in its commitment to environmental and social responsibility. A standout achievement in the report is the company’s use of 96% recycled packaging materials across its operations, including the typically overlooked fruit stickers. The remaining 4% consists of recyclable plastics, underlining a comprehensive effort toward circular packaging practices.

This announcement not only showcases Jingold's eco-conscious advancements but also signals a deeper cultural shift within the company. "Sustainability is not a finish line, but an ongoing process," said Alessandro Fornari, General Manager of Jingold. "This report is a tool for transparency and accountability, allowing us to engage all stakeholders and create shared value."

Jingold’s report outlines 16 core sustainability priorities developed in collaboration with employees, customers, producers, suppliers, and local communities. These include:

  • Product quality and safety
  • Supply chain management and traceability
  • Natural resource protection
  • Worker well-being
  • Promotion of healthy lifestyles

The company is already making measurable progress in several areas. In 2024, Jingold conducted its first evaluation of greenhouse gas emissions in alignment with international standards. Based on this data, it has initiated a series of mitigation projects, including:

  • Deployment of photovoltaic solar energy
  • Purchase of certified carbon credits for air travel
  • Promotion of eco-friendly packaging
  • Use of kiwifruit cultivation itself as a method for carbon sequestration

Water usage is also under scrutiny. Jingold plans to achieve certification under the GlobalGAP Spring program, which focuses on biodiversity-sensitive water management. The company continues to support drip irrigation and organic farming initiatives across its grower network.

Digitization plays a crucial role in transparency. The company has strengthened traceability efforts via the Jingold Farm digital platform, ensuring that every link in the supply chain is visible and certified. This ties directly into their focus on food safety and responsible pesticide use.

“This document is not just a report; it represents the synthesis of the values that guide our company,” said Jingold President Patrizio Neri. “Respect for the environment, innovation, high quality standards, and a people-centered approach are at the heart of what we do.”

With this new sustainability report, Jingold positions itself as a leader in responsible agricultural practices, offering a replicable model for the wider packaging and fresh produce industries. The report isn’t just a list of achievements – it’s a roadmap toward a more ethical and ecologically sound supply chain in the global fruit market.
