Maison Violet adopts Coverpla’s refillable ecoBottle with 50% less glass, combining luxury fragrance design with material reduction.

Maison Violet Cuts Glass Use by 50% with Refillable Fragrance Packaging

Maison Violet expands refillable packaging across its fragrance collection

French fragrance house Maison Violet is continuing its collaboration with Coverpla by adopting a lightweight refillable bottle system across its latest collection.

The brand has selected Coverpla’s ecoBottle for fragrances including Un air d’Apogée, Nuée Bleue, Compliment, Sketch, Tanagra and Pour Rêver, extending a packaging strategy first introduced with its Cycle collection.

The bottle is designed to reduce material use while maintaining the weight, finish and visual simplicity associated with premium fragrance packaging.

EcoBottle uses 50% less glass

The cylindrical bottle forms part of the ecoLine range developed by glassmaker Bormioli Luigi and is available in 50 ml and 100 ml formats.

According to Coverpla, the format uses around 50% less glass than a conventional equivalent, helping reduce material consumption and environmental impact across manufacturing and transport.

Lightweighting is becoming increasingly important in luxury beauty packaging, where traditionally heavy glass bottles have been used to communicate quality and prestige.

Reducing glass weight without making the pack feel visually or physically less premium therefore represents a significant design challenge for fragrance brands.

Refillability built into the bottle structure

The ecoBottle incorporates a screw-neck system that allows the fragrance to be refilled while also making it easier to separate individual packaging components for recycling.

This design approach allows the bottle itself to remain in circulation for longer, reducing the need to replace the full primary package after each use.

Refillability is increasingly becoming a core element of fragrance packaging strategies as brands seek to meet sustainability targets while maintaining durable and decorative outer packs.

Premium components maintain luxury positioning

Despite the focus on material reduction, Maison Violet has retained several premium decorative elements within the packaging system.

The bottle is paired with Coverpla’s Paros cap in gold-coloured zamak and its Precious fine-spray pump. The Maison Violet logo is laser engraved onto the top of the cap, reinforcing the brand’s visual identity.

A separate 50 ml edition of Un air d’Apogée Extrait uses purple lacquering combined with hot-stamped decoration, demonstrating how lightweight and refillable structures can still support high-end finishing techniques.

Luxury packaging moves towards lighter structures

The project reflects a broader shift within prestige beauty and fragrance towards packaging that combines strong aesthetic differentiation with lower material intensity.

Glass remains one of the dominant materials in luxury fragrance because of its transparency, inertness and perceived quality, but its weight also contributes significantly to packaging-related emissions.

Lightweight bottle designs therefore offer a way to reduce environmental impact without moving away from the material characteristics consumers associate with premium perfume.

Eco-design becomes part of fragrance differentiation

Maison Violet’s approach shows how sustainability can be integrated into the design language of luxury packaging rather than treated as a separate feature.

By combining reduced glass weight, refillability, component separation and decorative finishes, the brand is attempting to balance environmental performance with the visual and tactile expectations of the fragrance market.

As refill systems become more established across beauty and personal care, packaging suppliers are increasingly focusing on solutions that allow brands to reduce material use while preserving the emotional and sensory role of premium packaging.
