RDM Group Appoints New President of Fibre Packaging Europe

RDM Group is pleased to announce the appointment of Michele Bianchi, CEO of the Group, as the new President of Fibre Packaging Europe (FPE). FPE is a coalition of seven European trade associations representing the entire fibre-based packaging value chain, comprising 1,500 companies, 2,200 manufacturing sites, and 365,000 employees, generating over EUR 120 billion annually. This association plays a critical role in shaping the packaging industry in Europe, promoting sustainability, innovation, and regulatory harmonization across the sector.

FPE advocates for the transition toward a circular economy and works to ensure that fibre-based packaging remains a sustainable solution in a market increasingly focused on environmental responsibility. The organization’s recent “One Europe, One Market” statement calls for uniform rules that strengthen the industry’s competitiveness and provide regulatory clarity, ensuring that businesses can innovate and grow within a predictable framework.

In his new role, Michele Bianchi will lead FPE during a crucial phase for the industry, where challenges such as climate change, waste management, and circularity are at the forefront of policymaking. Bianchi, who has extensive experience in the packaging sector, emphasized the importance of the European industry staying united in the face of these challenges and aligning its strategies to ensure a sustainable future for fibre-based packaging.

As FPE’s new president, Bianchi will advocate for the principles of the Single Market, working with European institutions to streamline regulations that foster innovation and ensure that fibre-based packaging remains a competitive and eco-friendly choice. “It is essential that we consistently integrate Single Market principles into all EU policies and initiatives,” said Bianchi. “With the EU’s roadmap for ‘One Europe – One Market,’ we have an opportunity to further strengthen the fibre packaging sector by ensuring that it remains competitive and adaptable to the needs of consumers and businesses alike.”

RDM Group, under Bianchi’s leadership, has been recognized for its commitment to driving the transition to a more sustainable packaging future. Bianchi’s new position at FPE underscores the Group’s central role in shaping the future of fibre-based packaging in Europe, as well as its active involvement in promoting sustainability in the broader packaging sector.

The appointment of Michele Bianchi is seen as an important milestone for both RDM Group and Fibre Packaging Europe. With his leadership, FPE will continue to focus on the most pressing issues in the packaging sector, including regulatory harmonization, sustainability, and innovation, ensuring that the European fibre-based packaging sector remains at the forefront of global packaging trends.
