Smurfit Kappa has unveiled its latest digital solution, SupplySmart, designed to empower businesses in optimizing packaging for enhanced efficiency and reduced emissions throughout their supply chains. Developed in response to the escalating complexities and uncertainties in global supply chains, SupplySmart utilizes insights from the analysis of over 100,000 supply chains. Its innovative digital twin feature enables businesses to virtually test updated packaging, mitigating risks before implementation.

Henkel, a leading German consumer goods company, collaborated with Smurfit Kappa to launch a sustainable paper-based alternative to plastic packaging, utilizing SupplySmart to digitally model their supply chain. The resulting redesigned dishwasher tablet pack exhibited a 66% volume reduction, leading to a 44% decrease in CO2 emissions during transport.

This eco-friendly solution, not only promotes easy handling and storage but is also fully recyclable. Marcel Daube of Henkel praised SupplySmart for driving sustainability and efficiency across the supply chain, aligning with their commitment to responsible business practices.
