BioPak and Live Nation UK collaborate to provide compostable packaging for festivals and outdoor concerts, reducing environmental impact and promoting sustainability in the live events industry.
As the world continues to grapple with the pressing issue of climate change, innovative solutions are emerging to reduce our environmental footprint. One such initiative is the collaboration between BioPak and Live Nation UK, which aims to provide compostable packaging for all traders and crew caterers at its UK festivals and outdoor concerts this summer.
This partnership is a significant step towards reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 50% by 2030, as outlined in Live Nation's global sustainability arm, Green Nation. The commitment to sustainability is clear: all items used must be reusable, renewable, certified compostable, or made from at least 30% recycled content.
Through this collaboration, traders and crew caterers will receive a discount on certified compostable foodservice packaging at Live Nation UK and Festival Republic events between May and August 2024. This not only benefits the environment but also provides a cost-effective solution for event organizers.
BioPak's technical director, Sam Walker, emphasized the importance of this partnership: "This alliance further cements BioPak's position in the sustainable food packaging industry as the preferred supplier. The deal will give confidence to Live Nation, Festival Republic, and all traders and crew caterers that the food packaging at their events meets the stringent policies helping the operators reduce the environmental impact of live events."
Currently, all food and beverage items at Live Nation's events are served in compostable and recyclable packaging. Dedicated sustainability teams work closely with professional waste management companies to ensure materials are donated, recycled, or composted at local facilities. This commitment to sustainability sets a new standard for the live events industry.
