The corrugated industry aligns with the European Commission's aim to enhance packaging sustainability through the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR).
FEFCO applauds the European Parliament Plenary session's vote on November 22, marking a significant step toward a sustainable packaging sector. The legislation promotes circularity with ambitious provisions, recognizing the competitiveness of European businesses and preserving efficient waste management systems.
FEFCO urges the Council to endorse this direction for a balanced approach, ensuring the harmony of recycling and reuse in the final PPWR legislation. Corrugated board, a highly recycled packaging in Europe, exemplifies circularity, with over 90% recycling rate and 89% recycled content from a renewable source.
FEFCO emphasizes its commitment to supporting PPWR objectives while advancing circular packaging options for environmental and societal benefits, as expressed by Eleni Despotou, Director General of FEFCO.
