Explore Wisdome Stockholm, a sustainable marvel by Stora Enso, featuring unique wooden architecture and cutting-edge technology. Inaugurated today, open to the public on 9 Dec.
Experience the groundbreaking Wisdome Stockholm, an innovative scientific arena located in the courtyard of Sweden’s National Museum of Science and Technology in Stockholm. The 1,325-square-meter structure, featuring a unique wooden architectural design, has been brought to life with sustainable construction materials provided by Stora Enso, the primary partner for the project.
Lars Völkel, Executive Vice President of Stora Enso’s Wood Products division, highlights the significance of Wisdome Stockholm as a landmark wooden building that pushes the boundaries of architecture. Wood, a key component in the fight against climate change, not only allows for the storage of CO2 but also promotes a sustainable construction process.
The wooden elements, including LVL (laminated veneer lumber) and CLT (cross-laminated timber), used in the construction of Wisdome Stockholm originate from responsibly managed, certified forests in Sweden and Finland, storing a total of 1,178 tonnes of carbon dioxide. The building features both curved and twisted beams, a rarity found in only a few locations globally. At the core of the exhibition hall is a substantial wooden dome equipped with cutting-edge visualization technology.
Jessika Szyber, Business Development Manager at Stora Enso, emphasizes the company's involvement in the project's early stages, enabling the innovative use of standard industrial products like CLT and LVL elements from the Sylva by Stora Enso range to achieve the building's asymmetrical structure without compromising its fantastic design.
Wisdome Stockholm is officially inaugurated today and will open to the public on 9 December.
