This initiative underscores XSYS’s dedication to sustainability in the printing industry. According to Florian Hoelzle, Product Manager nyloflex®/nylosolv®, “As the entire packaging printing value chain shifts towards sustainable solutions, XSYS has launched the ‘nyloflex® eco’ plate series under the slogan 'Lifting proven quality to a sustainable future.'” He emphasized that increasing product sustainability does not compromise the established quality of the nyloflex® brand. Maintaining high print quality and product durability is crucial to preserving the competitiveness of both their customers and the flexographic printing industry.

The nyloflex® eco ACT is a medium hard photopolymer flexo plate designed for excellent print quality, even with challenging combinations of halftones and solids. A notable feature of this plate is its compatibility with both tube and LED exposure systems, allowing seamless integration into existing processes and improving efficiency and flexibility. Developed for paper and board applications, the nyloflex® eco ACT performs exceptionally well with water-based inks on absorbent substrates, including preprint, paper bags, folding cartons, and wrapping paper.

The nyloflex® eco FAC is a soft photopolymer flexo plate designed specifically for corrugated post-print. It is an ideal choice for achieving consistent, high-quality results on rough, uneven, or pressure-sensitive substrates. The plate is known for its robustness and durability.

These eco-friendly plates are an evolution of the legacy nyloflex® ACT and nyloflex® FAC products, featuring significant sustainability benefits. The polymer layer includes 19-29% renewable raw materials, and the plates offer a 20% reduction in processing time, enhancing productivity while lowering energy and solvent use. By adopting these eco-friendly plates, customers can boost their sustainability credentials, appealing to eco-conscious clients and stakeholders.

Dr. Eva Freudenthaler, Vice President Technology, remarked, “The launch of the nyloflex® eco series is a significant milestone in our sustainability efforts.” She noted that within the next 12-18 months, the nyloflex® eco ACT and nyloflex® eco FAC will replace their predecessors. Additionally, XSYS has initiated a project to standardize all nyloflex® flexo plate colors to a bright, clear, light blue hue over the next 24-36 months, improving production efficiency and reducing waste, thereby enhancing the carbon footprint of their products. Dr. Freudenthaler assured that product performance remains a top priority and will not be compromised.

The nyloflex® eco series plates and corresponding print samples will be displayed and available for order at the XSYS Booth in Hall 8B Stand A30 during drupa.
